Best Basement Dehumidifier - How To pick A High ability Unit

A basement dehumidifier can commonly be quite expensive. The pricing of these units start at about 0 and go up to over 00. Most dehumidifiers for general home use aren't that expensive but the ones that are used specifically for basements can be quite expensive. Therefore, it is of vital point that you buy a high ability unit right away.

dehumidifier home depot

There's in effect no point in buying a five hundred dollar dehumidifier and replacing it every few months because the unit isn't just effective enough. A good basement dehumidifier can last for at least ten years. But I know a lot of units from reputable companies that fail within the first two years. I'm sure that you don't want that to happen to you. That's why I propose only buying a high ability basement dehumidifier.

DEHUMIDIFIER

But buying a high ability unit isn't that hard... Instead of buying in the moment and making decisions agreeing to the market place, you need to do your study and find the right one. It's going to take a few hours of study time. But it's well worth it in the long run because a good unit will save you money when it comes to electricity and serve you for a longer duration.

The first thing you need to look for when buying a basement dehumidifier is the capacity of the unit. The capacity of the unit will tell you whether the dehumidifier is best for your basement size and your location's humidity level. A unit of lower capacity will be perfectly functional in a smaller basement with high levels of humidity. But it won't be effective in a large basement.

Make sure that you are clearly aware of your location's humidity level. And when buying the unit, all the time look for the area that the singular unit can cover. If it can't cover the whole basement area, it's going to be useless to buy the unit unless you are willing to buy two units.

A considerable basement dehumidifier can be very expensive and range in thousands. If you have a large basement, it might be a wise thing if you just buy two units of moderate capacity that can serve at least half of your basement. You can place one on each side and make use of them effectively. A moderate capacity unit will just cost you under 0. It saves you money in the process provided you have power sockets on both sides of the basement.

The next important thing you'll have to look for when it comes to buying a basement dehumidifier is its ease of discharge. It can be very difficult for you to manually replace the buckets, bring the water out and drain it. You might be able to do it in your living room or bedroom. But carrying a pail of water from your basement to the organery isn't in effect nice.

Therefore, you must look for self-acting drainage premise in all the units that you choose to buy. Make sure that the unit has a pump and a hose. If not, look for any other self-acting drainage options. Also look for units with an auto turn off feature.

Mig Welders - How to Get the Most Out of Your 115 Volt Wire Feed Welder

Those little 115v wire welders that you see at Lowes and Home Depot are selling like hotcakes. Home Depot seems to always stock the Lincoln Electric Weld Pak HD. And Lowes seems to always have the Lincoln Electric Pro Core 125 MIG/Flux-Corded Welder. Every time I visit Lowes or Home Depot, I cant help but notice that the welding supply shelves have grown like crazy in between my frequent visits. My theory is that cable TV shows like Orange County Choppers and Monster Garage and helped to bring welding and fabrication more into mainstream Americana and have even created quite a buzz around welding and fabrication. It seems like every red blooded American male with an ounce of testosterone in his gonads wants to make something out of metal and the only real way to do that is with a welding machine. Having a welder in your garage also gives some serious bragging rights and makes you think you have a lot more friends than you really do, (kind of like having a Bass boat).

lowes refrigerators

But the thing that scares me a little and should scare a lot of folks is that there is no welding police. No one to blow the whistle and stop people from welding stuff they shouldnt oughta weld. Its kind of like a sixteen year old being free to stroll into a motorcycle shop and ride off on a crotch rocket that will do 180 mph. I guess that is part of living in Free America.

LOWES

What a country!

These little wire welders do have some limitations. Lets be clear about that. There are just some jobs you should not tackle with a 115v mig welder.

But take heart. There are many jobs that you can do, and do well with one of these 115v welding machines.

The purpose of this article is to explain how to get the most out of your 115v wire feeder welding machine and to make sure you are getting proper penetration in what you are welding.

First off, if you are going to weld a thin sheet metal quarter panel patch for a Nissan Altima, no worries. Penetration will be the least of your concerns. But if you are thinking about welding something heavier like a home-built Hummer Kit using 3 inch square tubing with 3/16 inch wall thickness, that is something else entirely. This is a situation where you will really be pushing the limits of any 115v wire feed welder.

I think anytime something is welded that that would probably injure someone if the welds fail, a 220-230v MIG welding machine should be used. That said there are still going to be occasions where people will need to push the limits of their 115v MIG welding wire feed welders.

Here are 7 things you can do that will help to increase your chances of penetration when you really need it.

1. Use flux core wire like Hobart Fabshield 21b and set the machine to max voltage, then adjust wire feed accordingly. Flux core just plain penetrates better that bare wire on 115v wire feeders. Make sure you follow the recommendations on the wire for polarity. A lot of disappointment has come from not changing the polarity when required.

2. Plug into a dedicated 20 amp circuit. Most household circuits are 15 amp. You might have a 20 amp in your garage. If not, consider getting one.

3. Do not, I repeat, do not use an extension cord. If you must use one you better use the shortest and thickest one you can find to avoid a power drop. Even then your machine will probably weld like it has been castrated. Get it? No balls. Ok moving on to #4.

4. Preheat the joint even if it is with a little propane torch, warming a joint up to even 150 degrees is like having another 10% extra amperage.

5. Do not weld downhill. Instead, weld uphill. Vertical uphill welds get more penetration than any other position joint because gravity keeps the puddle behind the arc.

6. Clean the metal with a grinder. Not having to penetrate through hot rolled mill scale, rust, or paint will greatly increase your penetration.

7. Get some small pieces of metal of the same thickness as the welding task at hand and weld a T joint. Then break it with a vise and a hammer. If it breaks easily you have problems and need to adjust the machine and/or technique until you can weld several joints that either do not break, or if they do break, show good penetration in the corner of the joint.

If you follow these 7 welding tips for getting better penetration with your 115 volt wire feed welder, you will be getting the most out of your mig welder.

How To Bring Down The Humidity Level With A Dehumidifier

High levels of humidity in your home can cause damage to the home and also a lot of condition issues to people. The best way to bring down those high humidity levels is with the help of a dehumidifier. A dehumidifier will help bring down high humidity levels and will also prevent your house from damage and safe you from condition issues.

dehumidifier basement

The easiest way to find out either you have high humidity levels in your home is with the help of a hygrometer. A hygrometer will help you quantum the exact level of humidity you are experiencing. If the relative humidity level at your home is over 50%, you need to take steps to bring down that level.

DEHUMIDIFIER

Relative humidity levels above 50% will cause mold growth, musty odor and various other allergies. Children are more prone to allergies and other condition issues if the humidity levels are unchecked. Apart from that, it can also damage your walls, your furniture and other electronic equipment.

The best way to bring down those problems is by using an sufficient dehumidifier. There are various kinds of dehumidifiers in the store each of which operates differently.

The first kind of dehumidifier is the mechanical unit. The mechanical unit has a compressor and a fan. The fan sucks air into the unit and dehumidifies the air by passing it straight through refrigerated coils. The moisture absorbed is condensed and drained out into a bucket.

The warm air is now gently blown back to the room. These units are suitable for use in any room that can accommodate these units. You can use them in your basement, living room, bedroom, office or even commercial spaces (they need to be of higher capacity).

The other kind of dehumidifier is a peltier dehumidifier. Just like the mechanical unit, this unit also runs on electricity. These units do not have a compressor. They make use of peltier technology in order to dehumidify the air.

But the estimate of moisture this unit can dehumidify is low for the electricity it consumes. The only benefit with these units is that they are incredibly silent when they function. The poor energy co efficiency makes this unit very ineffective. These units are recommended for use in your kitchen or bedroom in case, granted that the humidity levels aren't that high.

Your air conditioner is also one type of dehumidifier. But you'll need to keep the air conditioner running all the time in order for it to effectively dehumidify the air and prevent high humidity levels.

The air conditioners function is quite similar to the mechanical dehumidifier. It sucks the air in and passes it over refrigerated coils and chills the air. But instead of draining the condensed moisture, it evaporates it face the window (most Ac's do this). Ac's are suitable for use in your bedroom or living room in case, granted that you have the unit running all the time.

There's also other kind of dehumidifier which is called the desiccant dehumidifier or the wireless dehumidifier. These units do not need power to function. They consist of silica gel which absorbs moisture from air.

Every now and then, you will have to recharge the unit by plugging it into an galvanic socket. The absorbed moisture will be evaporated out and you can reuse the unit again. The estimate of moisture these units can dehumidify is quite low. Therefore, they are suitable for use in your closet, car or bathroom.

Prom Beach Theme

Here are some ideas to help you plan a terrific and memorable prom:

lowes store

Definitely set the scene with the music. There are just tons of great "Summer Beach Music". And I'm not talking Beach Boy songs - those grow old, fast. I'm talking Cheryl Crow "Soak Up The Sun",  Kid Rock "All Summer Long", Will Smith "Summertime" and Jack Ingram "Barefoot and Crazy", just to name a few.

LOWES

Change into Something Comfortable:   At some point in the night everyone's feet are aching and they just want to get into something comfortable. A "Beach Theme" prom is the perfect excuse to, when you are ready, ditch the glamour and put on cut-offs and t-shirts to finish off the night.   Make sure people know ahead of time about this aspect of the prom.

The Sand and the Sun: How about some beach volleyball? Or a big sandbox where people can wiggle their toes in the sand and build sandcastles? Turn to your local home improvement store (Home Depot, Lowes) and talk to them about purchasing sand, liners, and wood for the sandbox frame. Also talk to the school's shop class instructor to see if they can help you with this project. The trick to making this work is to ensure that you have a place to take the sand afterward.

Beach Snacks: Okay - so a bonfire in your school gym to roast up some snacks (hot dogs, smores, etc.) may be a bit infeasible as well as against the fire code. Improvise. Ask if the cafeteria would be so kind as to make hot dogs and baked smores (the web abounds with recipes) to serve as late night snack.

Beach Favors: Send the graduating seniors home with a beach-themed favor. Shell picture frames (to display their prom photos), personalized playing cards with a beach theme design and beach themed votive holders are terrific keepsakes from your special night.

As for your prom? Sit back, kick off your shoes and just enjoy!

Outdoor Pole Lights

Outdoor pole lights can add beauty and functionality to your outdoor lighting scheme. Pole lights were once restricted to highways and parking lots but times have changed. Many landscape designers are using this type of outdoor lights as an important part of some of their award winning designs. Just think of the "wow" factor that is added to a landscape design by a well positioned wrought iron pole light! With the additional of some hanging baskets you can have something that looks like it is right out of a magazine.

lowes

The first things you need to consider is the actual placement of the light. In order to properly consider the placement you need to think about your goals. Are the lights or light intended to be primarily functional or for aesthetic effect or perhaps both. If the lights are needed to be functional, for example along a long driveway then we might need more than one. As with all landscaping design elements, it best to have things in uneven numbers, ie 1 or 3 or 5. In some cases a single pole light can work magic. A nice light positioned at the junction of the driveway and the walk to the front steps gives a touch of class to most homes.

LOWES

It is possible to get outdoor pole lighting at a variety of home renovation stores including Home Depot, Canadian Tire, and Lowes. These lights come in a variety of materials and are priced accordingly. The most common materials include wrought iron, cast iron, and aluminum. The most durable will be the most expensive and also the heaviest. The different models can range very modern designs with simple straight lines and square globes to very beautiful and intricate scroll work with antique shaped globes.

As people begin to spend more time in their outdoor space, they are beginning to care more and more landscape design. Decks and patios are becoming more elaborate and patio furniture has come to resemble furniture more commonly found in living rooms. The advent and popularity of the outdoor pole lights is just another step in this trend to make more use of our outdoor space.

Sizing Dehumidifier For Your Home! How To Pick The Right Dehumidifier For Your singular Room

Sizing a dehumidifier can be a question for you if you haven't used a dehumidifier before. Dissimilar units come with Dissimilar capacity ratings and cover Dissimilar ranges of areas. If you pick the wrong unit, you are going to have air dehumidified in only distinct areas of the room close to the dehumidifier while the other parts of the room will be filled with mold and musty odor.

dehumidifier home depot

But if you pick a dehumidifier that covers the whole area of your room or basement, you will get immediate relief from excess humidity levels and will never have to worry about any humidity issues. Your house will be protected against conditions such as damp walls, musty odor, mold growth, etc.

DEHUMIDIFIER

Depending on the humidity level in your single location and the area of your room, you will need to pick a dehumidifier of suitable capacity rating. The capacity rating of the dehumidifier is the estimate of pints the unit can dehumidify every day. Areas with slowly damp conditions will want less estimate of moisture to be removed daily whereas areas with even wet conditions will want a lot more moisture to be removed daily even if the size of the room is the same.

Usually, the humidity level in Dissimilar regions varies from slowly damp to damp and slowly wet to wet. I advise using a hygrometer to find out the exact humidity level of the room where you want to use the dehumidifier before purchasing one.

An highly wet area is one where the hygrometer indicates a Rh level of 90-100% and there are puddles of water all around the room. If the room is highly wet and its area is 500 sq ft, you will need a unit which can dehumidify 16 pints of water daily. For 1000 sq ft area, you will need a unit that can remove 23-25 pints of water daily. For 1500 sq ft, it'd be 30-32 pints of water daily.

An area can be classified as wet if there are water stains all over and you can consideration mold and mildew all over the room. Such areas will want a unit that can remove 14 pints of water daily for 500 quadrilateral feet, 20 for 1000 quadrilateral feet, 26 for 1500 quadrilateral feet and so on. The Rh level in a wet area is about 80-90%.

Locations with relative humidity level of 70-80% are classified as damp. In these conditions, you can smell mold and mildew all over the home. You might be able to consideration descriptive water stains on the walls and the floor. If that isn't the case, just trust the hygrometer. For these areas, you will need a dehumidifier that can remove 12 pints of water daily for 500 quadrilateral feet, 17 pints for 1000 quadrilateral feet, 22 pints for 1500 sq ft and so on.

A location where you can consideration musty odor in humid weather and the hygrometer points a relative humidity level of 60-70% is determined a slowly damp location. You need a unit that can remove 10 pints of water daily for 500 quadrilateral feet, 14 pints for 1000 sq ft and 16 pints for 1500 quadrilateral feet.

If you know the area of your basement, you can then pick a dehumidifier with the right capacity rating. Well... If you have problem sizing the dehumidifier, let me help you with that.

If the location is legitimately wet, you will need a unit that can take off 14-15 pints of water daily. If it's very wet, you will need a unit that can take off 17-20 pints of water a day.

So based on your basement size, you will need to pick a dehumidifier with the right capacity rating. You can use the same rule for all your rooms. But the basements will always have higher levels of humidity than your other rooms.

Basement Dehumidifier for Wet Basement

Without having a good basement dehumidifier, a wet basement can bring all the mold, rust and mold to your house. Why should you even bother to look at your wet basement? The presuppose is obvious. Having excess water moisture will finally damage the costly furniture in your house or even your health in long term. Instead of telling you to spend a few hundred bucks to buy a basement dehumidifier, I will show you in this description a few easy ways to deal with this question without getting a basement dehumidifier.
You have to understand that there are ordinarily two causes of wet basement, namely poor drainage exterior and condensation inside. You will need to find out which is the cause and before you unquestionably wasting your money on a basement dehumidifier that you do not need.

Just leave the foil there for 2 days and take off it to see which side is wet.

To fix your wet basement, we can use both dehumidification and insulation.

Insulation means to insulate your wall, cold water pipes and air health ducts from the air. In general, foam pipe insulation allows you to cover most of your cold water pipes easily. You can wrap anything remained with fiberglass insulation if you want.
